Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne posed next to their lifeless counterparts ahead of the official unveiling of the sculptures at the London attraction today (April 18).
The boys were stunned by the incredible likeness of the figures, with Malik commenting: "They look wicked, they're bang on."
Payne said that being inducted into Madame Tussauds is "definitely a privilege", while Styles described the sculptures as "amazing and such an honour".
Horan, meanwhile, was a little unnerved that he had made a fashion faux pas with his waxwork.
"This is weird - he's wearing my actual shoes," he declared.
When finally unveiled to the public, the One Direction figures were immediately set upon by a group of their devout fans, who planted kisses on the cheeks of their idols.
"They just look so real, even the hair is styled the right way. I can't believe it, this is the best day of my life," 14-year-old Ebony Commons announced.
The One Direction sculptures will be on display at Madame Tussauds London until July 11.
They will then be shown at attractions in New York from July 19 to October 11, before moving on to Sydney, Australia from October 24 to January 28, 2014.
Other locations on the tour are to be announced.
